Pursue Wisdom


 

Series Verse:
Proverbs 1:7 (NLT)Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Proverbs 9:9 (NLT)Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more.

Proverbs 9:8 (NLT)So don’t bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you. But correct the wise, and they will love you.

Proverbs 28:15 (NLT)A wicked ruler is as dangerous to the poor as a roaring lion or an attacking bear.

PURSUE WISDOM

Proverbs 3:13–18 (NLT)Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. 14 For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold. 15 Wisdom is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. 16 She offers you long life in her right hand, and riches and honor in her left. 17 She will guide you down delightful paths; all her ways are satisfying. 18 Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly.

Wisdom in Family

Proverbs 17:6 (NLT)Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children.

Proverbs 15:20 (NLT)Sensible children bring joy to their father; foolish children despise their mother.

Wisdom in the Workplace

Proverbs 22:29 (NLT)Do you see any truly competent workers? They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people.

Wisdom as a Navigational System

Proverbs 2:11–13 (NLT)Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe. 12 Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose words are twisted. 13 These men turn from the right way to walk down dark paths.

Wisdom for the Future

Proverbs 24:14 (NLT)In the same way, wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, you will have a bright future, and your hopes will not be cut short.

What happens when we don’t practice the Wisdom of God? Foolishness!

Proverbs 5:23 (NLT)He will die for lack of self-control; he will be lost because of his great foolishness.

Proverbs 12:23 (NLT)The wise don’t make a show of their knowledge, but fools broadcast their foolishness.

Proverbs 15:14 (NLT)A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash.

Proverbs 16:22 (NLT)Discretion is a life-giving fountain to those who possess it, but discipline is wasted on fools.

Proverbs 17:12 (NLT)It is safer to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than to confront a fool caught in foolishness.

Proverbs 26:11 (NLT)As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his foolishness.

Foolish vs Wisdom

Proverbs 12:15 (NLT)Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.

Proverbs 14:16 (NLT)The wise are cautious and avoid danger; fools plunge ahead with reckless confidence.

Proverbs 29:11 (NLT)Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.

Born with Foolishness

Proverbs 22:15 (NLT)A youngster’s heart is filled with foolishness, but physical discipline will drive it far away.

Become a Student of Wisdom

When you live in God’s Wisdom, you also live in His peace!

Proverbs 16:7 (NLT)When people’s lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them.

Leviticus 27:30 (NLT)“One tenth of the produce of the land, whether grain from the fields or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord and must be set apart to him as holy.

Malachi 3:10 (NLT)Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!

Proverbs 22:7 (NLT)Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender.

Proverbs 3:9–10 (NLT)Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. 10 Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.
